Kudos to you and your curiosity! Thanks for being here! My name is Sara. I’ve been a floral designer for nearly 30 years and most of those years have been spent in sunny San Diego. I have been together with my beloved partner for nearly 30 years as well and we have a really incredible son together. They are the most precious creatures in my life. And then, there are the flowers.
From my home studio, I offer weekly, bi-monthly or monthly flower subscriptions and flower deliveries for special occasions, as well as gourmet food and gift baskets.
From a rental studio, I periodically offer personalized floral design classes for small groups and individuals. All things Western floral design and Ikebana (Japanese floral design). You can also reach out to me with specialized requests.
Over the past year, I have immersed myself in the world of Ikebana (Japanese floral design) as I have always been drawn to the simplicity and the meaningful absence of abundance, the negative space, referred to as the ma. I have always intuitively designed this way for myself, in my own home, as it is a reprieve from the over-abundant luxury wedding world that has been the bulk of my career. I first discovered Ikebana in 2003 when I found a random (or maybe not so random) flyer on the ground in the alley behind the European-style La Jolla flower shop I was working in, at the time. The pictures of the designs were unlike anything I was making and I felt drawn to it from my soul. Ikebana has just been patiently waiting for me for over 20 years to acknowledge that soul-song and I decided I needed to learn everything I possibly could about it. I enrolled in Ikebana school in Nov 2025, and as soon as I began, the designs started to heal something in my soul that I didn’t realize was broken. After spending the majority of my life in the organized chaos of the wedding industry, my nervous system was destroyed from the high levels of stress. I had a severe case of career and adrenal burn-out. I fell out of love with wedding work and my body just couldn’t even tolerate the stress anymore. Learning the rules and lessons of Ikebana have helped me heal & bring joy back to my soul and my body. Over the past year, I have devoured my Ikebana studies and I am so ready to share what I know with my community with the hope that it will bring that same healing to others. I love teaching those who are curious and passionate about flowers and nature. Please join me for self-expression with the healing magic of art & nature. Let’s stay curious and get weird together! If you’re still reading, thank you. Your attention is rare and is very much appreciated. In reverence, Sara
